What was typed in

“Bellweather Accounting, two of us, we do books and tax for small limited companies and sole traders. Monthly bookkeeping, VAT returns, year end, and we actually answer the phone in January. No jargon, we explain things. Make me a site.”

Everything below — the palette, the typefaces, the section order — came from that paragraph.

Books, VAT and year end for limited companies and sole traders

Accountants who pick up the phone

Bellweather Accounting is two of us, doing books and tax for small limited companies and sole traders. Monthly bookkeeping, VAT returns and year end — done properly, explained in plain English, by the same two people every time. And when January comes round and everyone else has gone quiet, we answer the phone.

No jargon. We explain things.

Most people don't want a lecture on accruals — they want to know what the number means, whether it's a problem, and what to do next. So that's how we talk. If we send you something, it comes with an explanation you can actually read, and if you'd rather just ring and ask, ring and ask. There's no charge for a question and no sighing on the other end of the line.

Two of us — and you'll know both

Bellweather is a two-person firm, which is the whole point. You aren't handed to whoever is free this week. The people doing your books are the people who answer when you call, and they already know your business before you start explaining it.

We answer the phone in January.

The work we do

Four things, done well, for small limited companies and sole traders.

  • Monthly bookkeeping
  • VAT returns
  • Year-end accounts
  • Tax returns for limited companies and sole traders

What that actually means

In case you'd like the detail before you get in touch.

Monthly bookkeeping

Your records kept up to date month by month, rather than reconstructed in a panic once a year. It means your VAT is easier, your year end is quicker, and you can ask how the business is doing at any point and get a straight answer.

VAT returns

Prepared and filed on schedule, every quarter. We'll tell you what's due and when, well before it's due, so the number is never a surprise.

Year-end accounts

Your annual accounts prepared and filed. We'll walk you through what they say in plain English before anything is submitted — not after.

Tax returns

Company and personal tax returns for limited companies and sole traders, done on time. You'll know what you owe with enough notice to do something about it.

Questions we get asked

If yours isn't here, just ask us.

Do you work with sole traders, or only limited companies?

Both. A good chunk of our clients are sole traders, and the rest are small limited companies. The work is different in the detail but the approach is the same.

Will I be dealing with the same person each time?

There are two of us and that's it, so yes. Whoever you speak to will already know your business — you won't be re-explaining it to a new name every quarter.

I don't really understand accounting terms. Is that a problem?

Not at all — that's rather the job. We don't expect you to speak accountant, and we won't send you something and leave you to decode it. Ask us anything, however basic it feels.

Can you take over my bookkeeping as well as the year end?

Yes, and it usually makes life easier. When we're doing the monthly bookkeeping, the VAT returns and the year end are far less painful, because nothing has to be reconstructed from a shoebox in March.

What happens if I ring in January?

We answer. It's the busiest month in the trade and it's exactly when people most need to reach their accountant, so we make a point of being reachable.

Let's have a proper conversation about your books

Tell us what you're running and where things currently stand — messy, tidy, or somewhere in between. We'll tell you straight what we'd do about it.

That was built from one paragraph.

Every accountancy practice is different, so yours would not look like this one — it would come from what you type about your own business.

What you are not seeing: a real published site also carries the owner’s phone number as a tap-to-call link, their email and address, and a live enquiry form wired to their dashboard. None of those appear above, because they are real contact details and this business does not exist. We won’t invent a phone number to make a demo look better. The photographs are ours, not the engine’s. They sit where an owner’s uploads sit and are passed to the page the same way, so you can see what this becomes once somebody adds their own. The engine chose the layout, the palette, the typefaces and the order of the page. It never chooses a picture, because it has no way of knowing what your work looks like.
